[read time: while shopping online]
Think about the last time you were purchasing something; how much research you performed online; and most importantly how quickly you clicked back and forth to your google search – in essence not even giving some websites a change to make their sales pitch to you.
The reality is, with the evolution of the internet into what it is today, the age-old concept of “window shopping” has never been more prevalent. As an entrepreneur, it definitely creates some challenges to consider. That’s not to say that your current website isn’t beautifully built and is a fantastic representation of your brand online; however, if your objective is growth, it may be worth your while to reflect from time to time on whether your objectives are being met.
So the question that EVERY entrepreneur should ask themselves is
“Is my website really growing my business?
If that’s too difficult and overwhelming of a question to answer in your current business model, you’re not alone. In this case, potentially it might be more useful to ask the following:
“Is my website growing sales directly???”
“Is my website simply a brochure???”
Either is fine – as long as the purpose of the website is meeting its goal. In other words, if you rely on your online presence [mainly your website] to promote your business and drive in sales, then an electronic brochure may not be meeting you needs. Furthermore, if you believe the future of your industry’s growth will be driven by online presence, then again the ‘brochure’ approach doesn’t sound right either.
This blog isn’t intended to give you the answer – as there is not simple answer. Although it’s not our specific area of expertise, this is the type of question we ask our clients as we get to know more about their businesses. As entrepreneurs ourselves, these are the questions we ask ourselves as well.
