[read time: between evening emails]
When you work with small businesses, sometimes it’s a worthwhile exercise to ask whether these same concepts also apply to the business world??? For instance, take the following headlines from the Stats Canada report:
77% of Canadians believe technology helps them communicate with other people
66% believe is saves them time
and 52% believe that technology helps them make more informed decisions
Can the same be said if they were to ask business owners how technology benefits their companies??? Would Canadian entrepreneurs truly feel that technology helps them communicate, saves them time, and helps them make more informed business decisions???
With respect to communication, I’m sure most business owners have adopted some form of skype, text, and email into their business model to help connect its customers and employees.
However, many business owners may not yet truly understand how technology can save them time AND help them make better business decisions. There are still many small companies that leverage their older desk-top systems in order to run their business [everything from invoicing and payments, to payroll and financial reporting].
Many of these companies are already GREAT – but could they be GREATER???
If entrepreneurs could have MORE TIME and BETTER INFORMATION to make decisions – I think it’s pretty evident that the sky is the limit. If you haven’t looked at innovative alternatives to your older desk-top business systems, maybe this is the time to start, rather than waiting for the next Stats Canada report!!!
